Sunday was Irene's second birthday. On Saturday we drove to Grand Rapids to pick up daddy and then on to Lansing to my brother's house. After we had been there for an hour or so Irene got terrible diarrhea. It was like water. What a mess. My mom came down with us and my dad was there as well as a friend of his from Ann Arbor. Of course my kids played with Eric and all his toys. They really do get along well. For dinner Kaye made lasagne and salad. It was so good and everyone chowed down. Once we got the kids to bed the adults sat up chatting. It was such a great evening and I wished we lived closer so we could spend more time with them. The only thing missing was my brother Pete and his girlfriend Ashley.
Sunday morning started with breakfast made by Kaye. After we had finished and everyone was dressed Irene opened her presents. Such great gifts and all perfect for her. Even my dad's friend gave her a tea set. After gifts we headed to the Potter Park Zoo. My brother ran ahead of everyone once we were there. He surprised us all by paying for everyone to get in. The zoo was great. Bigger then the John Ball Zoo but still small enough for Henry to walk through. Of course there were camel rides and Mr. camel expert Henry had to go for one. One particular funny moment happened when we were visiting the female lion. She was inside a building with only a glass or plastic window separating us. She was laying there looking bored and Irene came up to the glass going "tickle tickle tickle". After that the lion only had eyes for Roo. In that same building the lemurs had a huge enclosure but all of them sat squashed on a little dog carrier. The meercats were funny too. Anytime you walked up to their area they would all stand on their back legs. It was almost like a dance show.
Once we made it through the zoo my dad had made a picnic lunch for us. He had sandwiches, chips, veggies, potato salad. It was a yummy lunch and afterward we had cake. He got Roo a beautiful cake from Wal-Mart. Part of the decoration on the cake turned out to be an ornament to keep for the Christmas tree. Once we started packing up our stuff it started to drizzle. Perfect time for the party to end. It was a perfect weekend and a perfect party!
